Seeking to equip people to live as Christian disciples wherever God has placed them.

Thursday 5/4/2017

Acts 2:42-47

This is the birth of the church, the first “Missions Conference.” The first followers of Jesus, the first missionaries need to do a couple things first”

  1. Study the Scripture (devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching)
  2. Sharing a meal with fellow missionaries (to the breaking of bread and the prayers)
  3. Sell all their stuff so they can help those in need (they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need)
  4. Give thanks and praise (praising God and having the goodwill of all the people)

This seems like a pretty good four-step plan to begin mission work. And you all are called to it because when we follow those step “the Lord add[s] to [our] number those who were being saved.”

So how can you begin your own missionary work? Let’s start with the list

  1. What ways are you studying the Word of God
  2. Who are your fellow “mission workers”? How do you fellowship with them?
  3. What ways are you using your gifts, the things that God has already given to you?
  4. When have you given thanks to God?

Try to in the week to be purposeful about each of these steps.
