Sunday School at Grace has been learning about Jesus as the light of the world, and we have been practicing being the light in our world. Each week we have walked to the Little Free Pantry and added a variety of foods to bless our neighbors. We have made decorations and created our own psalm of praise to hang in the Fellowship Hall, encouraging the church. Every Communion Sunday the children return to the sanctuary to take turns ringing the church bell for all of the community to hear. It is a witness to all that Grace is a congregation actively worshiping God. Recently, the children were challenged to bring in a small stuffed animal to be donated to local ambulance squads to be a comfort to children who are hurt or sick.
At the Christmas holidays the children learned about the first Christmas, attended rehearsals, and performed The Nativity for the church at large, reminding us all of the true reason for celebrating Christmas. On Easter the children searched the church lawn for Easter Eggs and learned about the local missions that the church from Pastor Robin and their teachers. To conclude the Sunday School year we hosted an ice cream social!
Each Sunday the children also hear a children’s message near the start of the worship service. Pastor Robin usually delivers the children’s message; guest preachers and members of the congregation have also brought children’s messages when Pastor Robin was away.
We are grateful for the opportunity to reach the children of Grace Church families and children from nearby neighborhoods with the Good News. Please pray with us that we can continue reaching them and expand our ministry to older children and teens.
