Call to Worship written by Nancy C. Townley for ministrymatters.com
One: God has given us this day for praise!
All: Praise be to God for this most generous gift!
One: God has given his Son to us that we might learn ways of peace and mercy.
All: Let the words of God’s own Son, Jesus, enter our hearts and transform our lives!
One: Come, let us worship this great God of abundant mercy and love!
All: Let our songs, our words, and our thoughts reflect God’s healing and restoring love. AMEN.

Opening Prayer

Hymn 17* (black hymnal) “To You, O God, All Creatures Sing” (vs. 1-4)

Prayer for Illumination from Stephenmfearing.com

Scripture Lesson in Unison The 10 Commandments from Exodus 20
Then God spoke all these words:
I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; you shall have no other gods before me.
You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; …
You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God,…
Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy. For six days you shall labor and do all your work. But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work…
Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
You shall not murder.
You shall not commit adultery.
You shall not steal.
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
You shall not covet … anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Time With Children

Song “Jesus Loves Me”

Jesus loves me, this I know,
For the Bible Tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

Call to Confession

Unison Prayer of Confession written by Stephen Fearing and Pastor Robin
Forgiving God, you know better than we the ways we fall short of holy living. We can try each and every day to be good and yet we are complicit in systems that trample the poor and reward selfishness. We seek to silence voices of accountability and push aside the needy. Help us to discern what is good and what is evil. Lead us to places where the hungry are fed and the naked are clothed. This we pray in the name of the God of Love and Sacrifice. Amen.

Praise Be to God in Song Gloria Patri
Glory be to [the Father/our Maker], and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.
