It’s Midyear Conference time again! The international interns and staff with Cru gather to refresh, refocus and meet with their care team in the middle of the year. I (Lisa) usually attend the Spain Midyear but this year I’m attending the one in Thailand! I am currently caring for 2 staff families in Asia so I’m heading west instead of east this year. And Michael’s joining me! Michael will be part of the worship team and lead a seminar on “Having Difficult Conversations” while I’ll be meeting with my staff and leading a Mom’s Connection lunch.
After the conference, we’re headed to Singapore! It’s been more than 20 years since we lived there and we’re so excited to be able to finally return. We will have time to meet with dear friends from 20 years ago but will also be working during the week. Michael will be meeting with various ministry leaders and teams and I will be meeting with another staff family who recently returned to Singapore.
Please Pray
- For safe travels and good health, for our luggage to arrive with us (we’ll have extra suitcases of gifts and supplies for the conference)
- For our staff to feel blessed through the conference and our connection times
- For energy and spiritual strength through a very busy 2+ weeks; time to pull away to be with the Lord and refresh
Last year at this time I was recovering from breast cancer surgery. We’re praising God for His healing and the privilege to continue traveling/serving our overseas staff!
I also have a more personal request for prayer. In my volunteer work at the local women’s center, I’ve been meeting with a 14 year old pregnant gal. “K” is due to deliver in the next few weeks. When she first started meeting with me, she refused to talk about childbirth (too graphic) and requested we not talk about spiritual things (her boyfriend is a new convert to Islam). In the past 10 weeks, she’s really opened up in her trust and willingness to go ‘deeper’ in our conversations.
- Please pray for God to continue to work in her heart (and her boyfriend) that she might come to know His love and salvation
- I’d love to be her doula at her birth if baby waits until after the 7th of February!
- Pray that she’d continue to reach out to me even after the baby is born.
