I have been at Grace for about forty years. And of course, I have seen happy weddings, baptisms of faith, and comfort to us all as we lost a family member or friend. I have heard the Good News of Jesus preached every Sunday. The Holy Spirit certainly has been present at Grace. And I have learned more about the Bible than I ever thought I would.
But what I want to add is that I have seen what in my way of thinking are miracles. I have people who could easily be enemies become friends because of their Christian faith. I have seen formerly wheelchair-bound people walk into church (even though they had to use crutches). I have seen seemingly unsolvable problems become solvable when we as fellow brothers/sisters in Christ put our heads together and reasoned together as God would have us do. And we have been able to spread the Gospel into parts of the world that I never knew existed.
Even people who saw Jesus perform miracles simply looked the other way and cynically disregarded them. But there were also many more people who saw the miracles and understood that Jesus was indeed the Son of God. So, I think that the congregation of Grace has had a lot to give. I do not know what the future may bring to Grace Church, but I do know that the Good News of Jesus will continue to be the light of the world. And, God willing, we will be able to continue to preach, teach, and live the Good News of Jesus for another hundred years at the corner of Grove and Tuxedo.
