In April 2021 the Session of Grace Church invited Rev. Robin Miller Currás to serve as Grace’s interim or transitional pastor. We praise God that she accepted the invitation and that the Presbytery of Northeast New Jersey’s Committee on Ministry gave its approval. Pastor Robin’s first day at Grace was Tuesday, June 1. She will preach for the first time on Sunday, June 6. Pastor Robin provided this biography:
Hello, Grace Presbyterian! My name is Robin Miller Currás, and beginning June 1, our journeys of faith will join together, at least for a time. We will be travel companions, encouraging one another on the path of discipleship, seeking to be faithful to Christ’s call to follow him as his church. My role as Interim Pastor will be to help you spiritually discern God’s vision for ministry for Grace in the coming years. When we’ve accomplished that, you will begin your search for your next spiritual leader to help you live into God’s preferred future for you. This is exciting work which enriches our spiritual lives. I know that the last year has been beyond challenging, but I hope you have seen glimpses of God’s presence seeking to bless you and remind you that we are never alone to face life’s difficulties. We will journey together with the Spirit as our guide, and I trust we will be blessed in the process.
A little about me: I am originally from Islip, New York, but at this point, I have lived the majority of my life in New Jersey. I went to SUNY Binghamton, where I studied Spanish Language and Literature, and Princeton Theological Seminary, where I received an M.Div. and a Th.M. I am a first career pastor. My first church was in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico as an Associate Pastor. Then I became a solo pastor in Wharton, New Jersey where I stayed for 17 years. I took a break for 3 years while my children were in high school. During that time, I was trained as a coach to pastors and worked as a church consultant; I returned to parish ministry as an interim in December, 2018. My 2.5 years at the Long Valley Presbyterian Church were an incredible blessing.
I am married to Carlos, have two children, Ben and Eve, 22 and 20, two dogs, one cat, and recently my mother-in-law moved in with us. We are a bilingual home in Sparta, New Jersey. COVID nurtured my love of gardening, walking every day, seeking outlets for my creativity, and trying new recipes. I am also a playwright. My pen name is Robin Caroline, and I have had pieces produced across the country.
I look forward to being in ministry with you!
Pastor Robin
