Grace Presbyterian Church is blessed to own a lovely, classic home to serve as our manse. We are also blessed to have had a single family, the family of Pastor Emeritus Paul Leggett, occupying that home for nearly forty years. Allowing for forty years of normal wear and tear, the manse is in good shape overall. The Manse Renovation Team is working carefully and deliberately to determine what needs to be done to make the manse an inviting place for our next pastor and their family. The team has identified a set of repairs, restorations, and improvements to be undertaken while the house remains vacant. Here are the major items:
- Install central air conditioning and upgrade the electric service to accommodate the additional load.
- Install a first-floor powder room adjacent to the kitchen.
- Renovate the kitchen with new cabinets, countertops, appliances, sink, lighting, and flooring.
- Replace all double-hung windows and insulate the voids around the windows.
Grace Church is grateful to Jackie Denk, Bob Roe, Yvonne Luengo, Joyce Moulthrop, Kem Mackey, George and Jean Blomn, Ed Phillips, and Pastor Robin for their commitment to this big undertaking. Please keep them and the contractors they will be hiring in your prayers as they move forward to seek the necessary approvals, building permits, and funding. If you are able to help with the funding, go to gracemontclair.org/give and select “Manse Renovation” in the pull-down menu labeled “To:”
