Michael’s Visit to Nairobi
Michael just returned from a two-week whirlwind training trip to Nairobi, Kenya. It was a jam-packed trip that had him working every day while he was in Nairobi. He conducted a 5-day leadership course that focused on CoreClarity, Mental Fitness, and a program he developed called Human Power Skills. At the end of the training, the leaders commented that the students had never responded so positively to leadership training before saying, “This is unlike any leadership training we have had in the past.” Even the organizers of the training commented that it was so unusual to have such strong attendance and participation; at past trainings many people would simply stop attending. Just halfway through Michael’s training the students were asking about next steps and options for future training. We are so excited about this incredible blessing and opportunity to introduce Biblical principles that can expand ministry opportunities and leadership effectiveness. Please pray for God’s continued blessing and guidance as Michael talks with his host about future training opportunities.
Elsewhere: When It Feels Like Nothing’s Happening
If anything captures what it means to walk by faith and not by sight, it is this story of one of Cru’s international interns.
Jonah sat down in a university cafeteria in France and tried to strike up a conversation with a student from Mexico. He asked thoughtful questions, shared a bit about his own story, and tried to open the door to spiritual conversation. But the student responded with one-word answers. “Yes. No. I don’t know.” Eventually, the student stood up and walked away.
Jonah sat there, discouraged. It felt like a waste of time.
But just twenty seconds later, a student two seats over scooted closer and asked, “Are you a Christian?” Surprised, Jonah said, “Yes!”
The student continued, “I overheard your conversation when you were asking him about God. I’m from Afghanistan and have only been in Paris for two months. My family fled to Iran two years ago, and while in Iran, I heard the gospel for the first time, gave my life to Jesus, and was baptized just a month before coming here. Since arriving in Paris, I have been praying that God would help me find other Christians.”
The next day, this Afghan student attended a Bible study, his first time gathering with other believers since arriving in France.
Sometimes it seems like nothing is happening. But when we pause and look around, we may find that God is already at work, one seat away.
Financial Update
Please continue to pray for our fund development. We are still about $1250/mo short and have $7000 to raise in special gifts. [Editor’s Note: Grace Presbyterian Church gave Michael and Lisa a one-time gift of $1,000 in the fall of 2025 to help with their medical expenses.]
Pray that we would continue to be generous givers ourselves! We don’t want our shortfall to cause us to withhold our giving out of fear. We want our trust in the Lord’s provision to motivate our generosity.
We are so thankful for you! Your faithful giving and prayers allow us to continue to serve with Athletes in Action. May you know how deeply we appreciate you!!
