Manse Renovation

Modernizing a 1920s (20th-century) house into a 2023 (21st-century) modern house has certainly been a group effort and a Grace Church community-building project. Thanks to all who have contributed in any way. We hope that a new Pastor will be happy to live in this house, be a part of this great neighborhood, and participate in good schools if children are involved, because this is, of course, a community, like everywhere in the world, that needs to hear the Good News of Jesus. God willing, we will be able to tell this Good News of Jesus and live out our mission at the corner of Grove Street and Tuxedo Road for another hundred years.

The first phase of the project was the kitchen renovation.
A heat pump system, providing both heat and air conditioning, has been added to the second and third floors.
We think there may be a Deacon buried under that wallpaper.
The new kitchen has all new cabinets, countertops, fixtures, and appliances.
All interior walls have been stripped of wallpaper, repaired, and painted.
Some of the original oak flooring had been replaced with plywood many years ago. The plywood is being replaced with oak flooring now.

Grace Church is grateful to Jackie Denk, Bob Roe, and George Blomn for all of their work in assessing the renovation needs, contacting and overseeing contractors, negotiating contracts, and communicating the details of this important project to the Session and to the congregation. Please keep them and the contractors they are hiring in your prayers as they continue this essential work.

We hope a new Pastor will be happy to call this handsome house home.
