Pastoral Search Process

The Discernment Team, the Session, and Transitional Pastor Robin Miller Currás are grateful for the prayers and support of the Grace Presbyterian Church community throughout this process. Here is where we are in the process:

  • This spring the Discernment Team took all of the input from various congregational gatherings and surveys and crafted a Mission Study.
  • On April 16, 2023 the Session of Grace Church approved this document and the Discernment Team then sent it to the Committee on Ministry of the Presbytery of Northeast New Jersey.
  • Representatives of the Discernment Team met with the Committee on Ministry on May 4, 2023 to answer questions about the Mission Study and to receive the committee’s approval.
  • The Committee on Ministry approved the Mission Study, clearing the way for Grace Church to form a Pastoral Nominating Committee and commence the search for a new Pastor.
  • Grace Church’s Discernment Team volunteered to serve as a nominating committee to identify and recruit members of the Pastoral Nominating Committee.
  • A congregational meeting will be held on Sunday, July 16, after worship. At this meeting the Discernment Team will present the slate of Pastoral Nominating Committee members for congregational approval.
  • If the congregation approves of the slate of candidates, the Pastoral Nominating Committee will then be formed and will receive training and instructions from the Presbytery’s Committee on Ministry. The first task will be to write a Ministry Information Form that, once approved by session and the COM, will be posted on the Church Leadership Connection website of the PC(USA). Then the real fun begins: reading resumes and interviewing candidates!

Your prayers, support, and continued patience are greatly appreciated. May God bless and prepare Grace Presbyterian Church and the person God will call to become our new Pastor.
